For sensitive and sore gums
We at the Australian Denture Care Centre use Molloplast-B, the most successful form of heat cured cross-linked soft liner known. This soft liner is a permanently soft silicone material, which is adapted to the base of the lower dental appliance during or after the construction of the new dental appliance. This product is perfect for the reline or rebasing process of an existing ill-fitting dental appliance, if of cause conditions of the mouth suggest necessity.
This material forms an extremely excellent chemical bond with the acrylic base and has a highly elastic nature which conforms with the abnormally, but understandably sensitive tissues. The softness, flexibility, conformability and mouldable character of this particular material to the gums, makes it very favourable to use. If the correct procedures are followed at the clinical stages with correct initial positioning at the impression stage along with the laboratory stages followed as required then the expectations for its success will be positive. Proper procedure, will assure the distribution of pressure over the tissue surface of the mouth to be well spread, reducing any heavy pressure points and sore spots. This will help the patient in terms of extra relief and comfort with their denture. In cases where there are extremely undulating bone structures under the mucosal tissues, even this highly favourable comforting soft material may not or will not satisfy a patient.
Temporay Soft Liners

Cross section of a temporay soft liner
A temporary soft liner is what is used to assist and help maintain good healthy gums and tissues. The process of the temporary soft liner initiates, by captivating all sorts of pressures whilst and during eating phases. The soft liner works and responds like a conditioning agent, which results in less, pain and pressure in and around the mouth. Temporary soft liners also provide practitioners with the knowledge of possible pressure points and indicate maximum retention between the dental appliance and the gums.
If, it has been discovered that the patient’s temporary soft liner has improved the retention and withholding, it is then up to the practitioner to base a judgement as to whether or not a permanent soft liner can replace the temporary soft liner.
