Bruxism/Bruxomania
- Bruxism is commonly known as the process of the grinding or gnashing of teeth during sleep.
- Bruxomania is a nervous disorder, which is carried out by the action of grinding teeth.
- It is common that both Child and adults suffer from this disorder
- People must be made aware the action of grinding teeth is something that must be carefully looked at, as it in time creates major enable and strength problems to the dentition.
- It’s not uncommon for those that suffer from Bruxomania to also bit their fingernails and the inner side of their cheeks.
- It can change the occlusion and or create malocclusion causing future problems, which may lead to TMJ disorder.
- Breathing conditions may change
Thumb Sucking or prolonged use of a dummy
The constant sucking action of a thumb or dummy can lead to unaligned dentition due to the tongue constantly applying pressure to the front teeth. This could untimely lead to an Open Bite.
Chewing/Biting
The action of biting fingernails, chewing the side of your mouth or the general processes of biting or chewing can lead worn teeth.
