Jaw and Joint Disorder
What is TMJ?
TMJ is short for Temporomandibular Joint, and it can be found between the mandible and the temporal bones. It’s also known as the articulating jaw of the bone. The Temporoparietalis muscle is the muscle that tightens the scalp.
It is this very joint (Temporomandibular Joint) and this particular muscle (Temporoparietalis muscle), which assists everyone in his or her ability to open and closer the mouth. This joint and muscle also works along side others to help with the swallowing and chewing of food, and of course, speaking.
If you are having trouble performing any of these expected natural takes, it’s imperative that you seek advice from your practitioner to address the problem as soon as possible. A problem that involves a lack or restrictive movement from the Temporomandibular Joint and or the Temporoparietalis muscle could possibly result in TMJ Disorder.
Joint and Jaw Disorder
It’s crucial that patients be made aware that under no circumstance should the patient wear a dental appliance whilst sleeping. Excessive wear of the dental appliance could lead to a number of different problems. These problems may involve, improper support, which can distress the jaw mechanism, commonly leading to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. This should not be taken lightly as it could disrupt sleeping patterns and cause the patient immense pain.
